1938

Life begins for Oroton in Sydney, Australia, when a gentleman called Boyd Lane starts a textile design company, importing quality textiles from Europe.

 

1951

A gold metallic mesh compact for women that instantly becomes a symbol of luxury, elegance and sophistication.

1960's

Oroton secures its place on the fashion landscape with the Oroton mesh bag becoming the ‘must have’ accessory for disco girls and socialites alike. Each new season collection incorporates Oroton’s signature mesh.

1970

Oroton launches in New Zealand and continues to have a brand presence in key retail centres across Australia. The Oroton ‘O’ becomes a registered trademark.

1975

Oroton extends its product offering to include a collection of scarves and jewellery.

1980's

The company acquires the Polo Ralph Lauren license for Australia and New Zealand, The organisation becomes known as “OrotonGroup”. In 1987 Oroton listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and commences trading as a publicly listed company.

2000

Oroton extends its product offering to include a collection of sunglasses and optical eyewear.

2006

The Oroton brand is launched online - oroton.com. This interactive online channel continues to evolve into an important sales and brand building channel for Oroton both domestically and overseas.

2013

Consistent and innovative work on oroton.com is rewarded in 2013 as Oroton wins the Marie Claire ‘Best Australian Fashion Brand’ award. The online channel continues to be a key part of Oroton’s business model and one that grows considerably year on year to complement the brands strong store based retail presence.

2014

Actress Rose Byrne is the Brand Ambassador for Oroton. Rose curates a series of premium Limited Edition collections for the duration of 3 year her partnership with the brand. These distinct styles are plated and numbered - they are pieces that will be passed down through the generations.

2015

Oroton collaborates with Disney and creates two limited edition crystal clutches in celebration of the Cinderella movie. The two designs; the Cinderella Crystal Clutch and the Fairy Godmother Crystal clutch are handmade, lined in 100% silk and feature 2,600 Swarovski crystals.

2017

Oroton collaborates with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation to produce a limited edition capsule collection. 100% of the profits are donated to the organisation.

2019

Celebrating 80 Years.
Drawing on our rich heritage of craftsmanship, quality and impeccable design, AW19 looks back at our 80 year history with a new perspective. Sourcing inspiration from the archives, we’ve remained true to the Oroton spirit to create a timeless collection for today and beyond. In a tribute to tradition, subtle ‘O’ motifs adorn soft pebbled leathers and signature silk scarves, while beautiful circular hardware hints to our distinctive origins. Inspired by the past with a sense of the here and now,
AW19 is unmistakably Oroton.
