THE NEW CLASSICS

INTRODUCING OUR NEW SEASON MUST-HAVES

An Alphabet motif, printed on beautiful silk twill, formed the inspiration behind Oroton’s latest Autumn-Winter 23 collection. To mark the season, Creative Director Sophie Holt presented a concise and restrained collection, which paid tribute to three important house codes: the legacy of craft, Holt’s modern vision built around a fascination for art, pattern and colour, alongside iconography from the archives.

The genius of Holt’s collection is in its discreet details and the contrast between classic and modern: here, woollen overcoats and utility-inspired denim in signature treatments such as cream and vintage washes combine with sleek Merino knitwear and classic cashmere sweaters. Also in the mix, cocooning buttoned coats, structured shirtdresses, sculptural dresses and butter-soft leather jackets; masculine-feminine, hard and soft. To push the point, she added in poetic touches such as a printed silk twill shirt and matching scarf. All that drama and romance translated into a fitting love-note to the house, which celebrates its 85th anniversary this year.

Photographed in the Art Gallery of New South Wales Library, the campaign is a tribute to the art of living, a nod to the written word and finding inspiration in each new day. Oroton’s important partnership with the Art Gallery of New South Wales is an alliance that weaves together two iconic Australian narratives with a focus on heritage, conservation, philanthropy and forward-thinking. The Winter 23 campaign is the first photographic shoot to take place in the Art Gallery of New South Wales Library, Archive and Children’s Art Library in the South Building; and it’s an exciting celebration of culture and fashion.
