Product Care OLD

Given the current environment, please be mindful that the use of hand sanitiser and other alcohol based products can have a damaging effect on your beautiful new purchases. Please use with caution.

At Oroton we strive to offer our customers quality handcrafted products constructed from only the finest materials. Our materials are among the best available worldwide and to ensure that you can maintain the 'like new' appearance of your Oroton products we recommend you follow a few simple practices:

    • Store your Oroton products in the care bags provided* when not in use. Note, not all products come with care bags.
    • Never store them in plastic bags or the leather will sweat.
    • Store in a place where air can circulate and away from direct sunlight.
    • Store in a cool, dry place without any pressure being applied which could cause permanent. indentations and deformations which are not covered by warranty.
    • Avoid overfilling your product as this may cause stretching and deformation in the leather/material.

Leather Care Products

Please note: Oroton Leather Care Products cannot be shipped outside of Australia.

Depending on the leather your accessory is made from, the life and look is affected by how you care for it. Please see examples below:

    • Thin delicate leather has a higher maintenance requirement. It should be kept away from abrasive surfaces and weight bearing loads - this leather is not recommended for heavy/everyday use.
    • Smooth shiny surfaced leather should be kept away from abrasive surfaces as it can be scratched. However, it is more durable than thin, delicate leather and is suitable for daily wear.
    • Suedes or Nubucks we recommend a scotch guard spray to reduce soiling. This leather should not be rubbed against lighter coloured clothing - even when treated - as colour may transfer.
    • Zip pulls we advise the customer not to overfill then tugging too firmly on the zip pull as it is only as strong as the ring that holds it.

Depending on the leather your product is made from, the life and look of it can be greatly affected by the way it is cared for. Like our own skin, leather needs to be moisturized and protected on a regular basis. Oroton has developed a complete range of leather care products which can be purchased at any Oroton store. This range includes:

Leather conditioner

AUD $29.00

The Oroton Leather Conditioner is a specially formulated cream made with the addition of tea tree oil to help you clean and condition all types of smooth leather and synthetic material. With regular use, it helps to resist soiling, add gloss and natural luster. It is suitable for most darker coloured leather, but is not the be used on suede.

Eco Water & Stain Protector

AUD $29.00

The Oroton Water and Stain Protector is a fine spray that protects handbags, wallets, coats and any accessory made from leather, suede, nubuck, or fabric. This spray repels water and dirt, yet still permits leather to breathe and offers effective protection against moisture.

Speciality Leather

Some specialty leather used on our Oroton products have natural characteristics which may result in variations in colour, shading or transferring of colour. Leather will mature over time with wear; it may soften, become more supple and develop a patina on its surface, imparting character and personality. Colour may transfer from dark clothing or jeans to light coloured leathers or dark coloured leather to light coloured clothing when product is being worn. We recommend your item be treated with Oroton leather care products. Please take care with any sharp objects, jewellery or rough surfaces that may rub against leather that can potentially cause damage to surface area.

Metal Mesh Fabric Bags

Oroton Metal Mesh products are made with the finest quality brass metal. To provide you with years of wear we suggest cleaning regularly with a soft dry cloth and storing in a care bag out of humidity and direct sunlight. To protect Metal Mesh avoid contact with chemicals such as alcohol, perfumes, solvents, make-up and any oily substances. If exposed to these products immediately wipe down with a soft dry cloth. Please take care with your Oroton Metal Mesh product and avoid contact with materials that are rough or abrasive as the finish may scratch. Your new Oroton piece has been designed and made to last many years. Wear it, love it and care for it well.

Cane Fabric Bags

These products have been woven using natural materials and therefore variations in texture or appearance are an inherit characteristic and intentional finish to the product. With wear, the surface may show loose cane fibres over time. Colour transfer from dark clothing or jeans may occur so we recommend using a slightly damp cloth to gently wipe your product. Avoid contact with rough surfaces or sharp objects that may rub against and potentially cause damage to your Oroton product.

Jewellery

To keep your Oroton jewellery looking it's best, we recommend you avoid exposing it to salt water, detergents and perfumes. Store your jewellery in a cool and dry place to prevent oxidisation.

Exclusives with delicate features such as pearls, simply wipe them with a soft, damp cloth to remove excess oils and dirt. Do not let your these delicate features come into contact with hairspray, cosmetics, sun creams and perfumes as these contain chemicals that can damage the nacre. It is advisable to not swim, shower, sleep or play sport whilst wearing them. Delicate rings are best stored in a soft cloth or their original case, where they will remain away from other gems or jewellery that may rub against them.

925 silver tarnish, dirt and smudges can be easily removed from silver by dry-polishing the surface with a silver polishing soft cloth, which include anti-tarnish agents.

Scarves

Our knitted and/or woven scarves are crafted from a variety of natural and synthetic fibres and yarns and some feature sequins and embellishments. Due to the delicate nature of these fabrics we recommend dry clean only, please also refer to individual care label. Knitted wool scarves can be hand washed with a delicate wool wash. Once washed, they should be rolled in a towel to remove any excess water, and laid flat to dry in the shade. Do not tumble dry.

Please take care when wearing your item as they are delicate and could pull or snag easily if caught. We cannot take responsibility for any stones that may fall off due to catching.

Sunglasses/Eyewear

Oroton eyewear uses the finest acetates and lenses to reflect the brands aesthetics in terms of colour, pattern and quality construction. Each eyewear collection adopts age old techniques for shaping each individual frame, passing through 200 pairs of hands before the frame is completed. This craftsmanship and high attention to detail is evident when you see and feel the frames.

All Oroton sunglass frames use cr39 lenses. Cr39 lenses offer the best clarity, durability and sun protection. These premium lenses offer 100% UV protection which makes them an ideal choice for Oroton eyewear.

Sunglass standards - the Australian and New Zealand standards have five classifications of lens categories. The lens category refers to the luminous transmittance, or in layman's terms, the amount of sun glare that is filtered by the lens.
