THE OROTON DRUMFIRE
Against the breathtaking backdrop of the 2024 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, Drumfire cuts through the waves—its crew a testament to experience, determination, and the enduring spirit of offshore sailing. Among them, Jessica Watson OAM joins the ranks alongside renowned sailor Stacey Jackson and Olympian Carolijn Brouwer, bringing her own legacy of resilience to the journey. As the Everyday Tote Bag Ambassador, Jessica also takes on a new role, championing Oroton’s latest Everyday Bag—a versatile tote crafted from recycled plastics, designed to support ocean health.
Congratulations to the Oroton Drumfire team on their remarkable achievement—628 nautical miles, completed in 3 days, 8 hours, and 49 minutes, finishing 20th overall and securing 1st place in the PHS Division 1. A special mention to Ocean Crusaders J-Bird’s Annika Thomson, who made history by winning the Jane Tate Memorial Trophy for the first female skipper across the finish line for three consecutive years.
This race is more than a test of endurance—it’s a showcase of grit, teamwork, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
TURNING PLASTIC INTO POSSIBILITIES
TURNING PLASTIC
INTO POSSIBILITIES
Oroton is proud to be collaborating with Waste2Wear on this special project - a global organisation with a mission to recycle plastic waste into useful textiles. Every year, mass amounts of plastic waste enter our oceans and can be found in swirling convergences that make up about 40 percent of the world's ocean surfaces.
The Everyday Tote is crafted from a 99.9% recycled polyester textile spun from traceably sourced plastic bottles. Each tote repurposes approximately 33 PET bottles, giving them a useful new life.

THE AMBASSADOR
JESSICA WATSON
Oroton is proud to partner with Jessica OAM on the launch of our Everyday Tote, which is helping to turn plastic into possibilities. A household name at just 16 years old, Jessica Watson became the youngest person to sail solo non-stop around the world in 2010. Over the subsequent years, the ocean has continued to shape her journey, both through ocean racing, writing books based on her experiences and speaking about the lessons learnt at sea. She’s also passionate about protecting our waterways, having experienced first-hand the significant plastic pollution choking our oceans.
